Suicide Squad Special Menu launch at DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe!
As you should know by now, Suicide squad is not your average joe superhero movie plot which shows your favorite super heroes saving the day, beating up the bad guys and getting the girl…
This highly anticipated DC movie features the opposite end of the spectrum, whereby the antiheroes are taking the stage embarking on a ‘suicide’ mission for which if they survive, are granted clemency. Introducing the deadliest villains from the DC universe such as Deadshot, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Rick Flagg, Boomerang, Enchantress, and more stealing the limelight this August. Looks like the bad guys are taking over!
Following the release of Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe is revamping their menu to commemorate the highly anticipated movie, Suicide Squad.
Katana Cut Chicken Miso ($38.90, serves for 2 pax)
A delightful dish of roasted spring chicken marinated with white miso and sake, sprinkled with shaved roasted almonds giving a crunchy texture and a hint of sweetness. It is accompanied with sesame dressing, seasoned fries and garden vegetables. In my opinion, the miso and sake presence was not very strong in the flavours of the dish, and the chicken was a little dry lacking the charred edge finish that was presented in the picture.
Harley Quinn: Laugh This Off, Puddin’! ($28.90)
This fun-filled burger definitely live up to it’s title of making your laugh when you take a look at its whacky ingredients. We’ve got cinnamon sugar coated doughnut as the bun (no kidding), with crunchy peanut butter as the special topping (Say what?). Yes, you might be a little bewildered and skeptical at the moment, but rest assured you are in for a treat. The burger turned out surprisingly good!
The doughnut and peanut butter is a perfect balance of the chicken patty with turkey bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese, guacamole and tomato salsa in the burger, enhancing the flavours and making it a savoury dish for all ages. The French fries, mesclun greens and vine tomato is an excellent combination to this ingenious creation. A must-try for its unique taste and presentation. Kudos to the chef who thought of this brilliant dish!
The Joker’s Rainbow Freak Shake ($16.90)
A combination of a dessert/drink concoction specially designed for the sweet tooth and mark my words, you are going to be in for a sinful journey. The blend of of vanilla syrup, milk, rainbow sprinkles, white chocolate sauce, gummy beans and chocolate cream wafer stick made it colourful, unique and eye catching! On the downside, it tasted like a regular vanilla milkshake with a generous amount of colouring.
Rating: 3/5 (I love vanilla milkshakes!)
Sweet-Side Squad ($14.90)
This caffeinated drink would be the life changer and my personal favourite of all the drinks there. This western and asian fusion beverage consists of the familiar gula melaka and mixture of milk, black tea and a shot of espresso which blends well in highlighting the local flavours influence in the drink. Astonishingly, it isn’t as sweet as the joker’s rainbow freak shake even though the name suggested it to be and the containment of gula melaka. Definitely Worth a try even if you are not a fan of coffee.
